Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Traditionally, the hours from noon until 3:00 PM were observed with a reverential silence, no music, radio, etc. The collection is for the Holy Land shrines.
To the Faithful of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Springfield, Illinois:
The Holy Father and the Catholic bishops of the world will consecrate all of humanity, and Russia and Ukraine in particular, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, March 25, at about 6:30 PM Rome Time.
The Pope has also asked the faithful to join in this act in their local churches during the day.
Bishop Paprocki of Springfield will be making the consecration at 9:00 AM in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.

The 12:10 pm Low Mass will have the blessing of the ashes. The 6:00 pm Low Mass will distribute the ashes after Mass.
January 1st, Saturday: The Octave of the Nativity of Our Lord falls on Saturday, and so the obligation to attend Mass has been dispensed.
There will be only one Mass January 1, 2022. It will be at 11:00 am.
January 6th, Thursday: The Feast of the Epiphany, there will be one Mass at 7:00 pm. It will be a Sung Mass with the men's schola and youth choir. There will not be a 7am Mass.
Adoration will begin at Noon on January 6th and will conclude with Benediction at 6:45 pm.
January 7th, First Friday: There will be only one Mass on January 7th and it will be at 6:00 pm. Adoration will begin at 5:00 pm and conclude at 5:45 pm with Benediction. Confessions will be heard during Adoration.
Midnight Mass will be a Sung Mass. Carols will begin at 11:20 pm.
December 25th will have two Masses, 9:30 am and 11:00 am. Both will be Low Masses. Please note first Mass is at 9:30 am, not 8:00 am.
There will not be Confessions before the Christmas Masses.
A Second Collection will be taken at all Masses for Catholic Children's Home. A letter from Bishop Paprocki is posted at both of the entrances.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation. Low Mass will be at 8:00 am and a Sung Mass will be at 6:00 pm. Please be sure to note the change in Mass times; there will not be a 12:10 pm on this Wednesday.
The Parish Office will be closed.
Adoration on December 3rd has been cancelled. The two Masses will remain; 12:10pm and 6:00pm. Devotional prayers will not be recited after the Masses.
