Masses of May 13: St. Robert Bellarmine, Bishop, Confessor, and Doctor of the Church Start: May 13 2019 8:00 am Special Mass times of 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Proper on page 1271. Preface for Easter on page 881. St. Robert was famous throughout Europe as a theologian, and as a strenuous defender of the Faith in controversy with Protestants. He joined the Society of Jesus, and was later made Cardinal and Archbishop of Capua. His numerous writings include works of devotion and instruction, as well as of controversy. He died A.D. 1621, and was canonised and declared Doctor of the Church in 1931.
