St. Philip, like Peter and Andrew, was of Bethsaida. He was crucified in Phrygia where he preached the Gospel, A.D. 87.
St. James the Less, was of Cana and a kinsman of Our Lord. He wrote one of the Epistles of the New Testament. He was thrown from the terrace of the temple A.D. 93.

St. Robert was famous throughout Europe as a theologian, and as a strenuous defender of the Faith in controversy with Protestants. He joined the Society of Jesus, and was later made Cardinal and Archbishop of Capua. His numerous writings include works of devotion and instruction, as well as of controversy. He died A.D. 1621, and was canonised and declared Doctor of the Church in 1931.

After a stormy youth, Boniface was converted to the Catholic faith, suffered numerous tortures, and was beheaded A.D. 307.

St. John Baptist studied theology at the Sorbonne. Inspired by God to give a Christian education to the poor, he founded the Brothers of the Christians Schools, which soon spread throughout the world. In private life he treated himself with extreme rigor, and died full of merits and years in A.D. 1719.

Hildebrand, monk of Cluny, and later Abbot and Cardinal, succeeded Alexander II as Pope Gregory VII. He displayed wonderful energy and constancy in defence of the liberty of the Church. He died A.D. 1085.

St. John died in a dungeon from the hardships he had to endure, A.D. 526.
